Background Introduction 背景分享

The Rocky Horror Show is a horror-comedy stage musical written by Richard O'Brien. It was first performed in London in 1973 and then adapted into a movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975, directed by Jim Sharman. It is a parody of science fiction and B-movie horror films with themes of transvestitism, homosexuality and loss of innocence. It gains notoriety as a midnight movie and audiences enjoy dressing like the characters, dancing and singing together.

Story Plot 劇情介紹

A newly engaged couple, Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, comes across a blow-out in an isolated area, leading them to go to the mysterious castle nearby for help. The host, Frank ‘n’ Furter, is a mad transvestite scientist from outer space. He had just created a handsome man, Rocky, to be his sexual plaything and invited Brad and Janet to witness this new creation. Under Frank ‘n’ Furter’s “guidance,” the couple embarks on an unthinkable journey of sexual initiation and subversion.

Here in NCCU, we are to perform The Rocky Horror Show, the sub-culture classic of the 70’s, for the FIRST TIME EVER in a Taiwanese university. We have Frank 'n Furter, the transvestite scientist from outer space with a sexy corset and panty hose, alluring you into his mysterious laboratory, along with his Apollo-like creation, Rocky, greeting you with his perfect muscles. This is not just your every day “sex, violence and rock ‘n’ roll mixed with slaughter, dismemberment and aliens.” Come to the Audiovisual Theatre on the third floor of the Arts and Culture Center, NCCU on December 16 (Friday) and 19 (Monday) at 19:00! The English Department invites you to join us in this year’s most sensational party with absolute pleasure!
